About

Waxycap.com grew out of the Hygrophoraceae of Lower Puget Sound project; a FunDiS Project. Hygrophoraceae include the loose group of the perhaps most colorful of all mushroom species. The group includes mushrooms of every color of the rainbow and a surprise to just about everyone, for some unknown reason, the tiny upper end of Little Skookum turned out to be a shining hotspot for waxycaps. The old Norwegian Troll of Little Skookum began sequencing this mysterious habitat about 5 years ago and the surprising results of the DNA is suggesting many new species – just in this group alone – will be described from here. It is a magical place – and my home.
